Antique Japanese Wedding Gown, Black Silk Uchikake
Price On Request
Antique Japanese wedding kimono gown, black silk brocade with flying cranes over pine, plum and bamboo (Sho Chiku Bai). They are celebrative motifs that are almost always seen in the Japanese wedding and New Year. The beautiful color combination of gold threads (wrapped in real gold leaf) and white shiny silk threads are woven into the background of black Shusu, satin silk with the contrasting color of a red silk liner. This is an absolutely gorgeous wedding gown. With the detailed photes, please picture this gown yourself because the #2 photo does not show the gown as is. The liner is a very soft silk, so soft that there are some areas torn around the edges. These are very minor and are not visible. It has one patched area with the same fabric inside liner. Trying to reproduce this gown today would be a very costly project, probably impossible using today’s materials. The gown does not weigh much because of the high quality materials used. The workmanship is also very different from today's kimonos.
Dimensions are: 60 inches (5 feet) long, 47 inches in width, sleeves are 24 1/4 inches long. The mannequin is adjusted to 52 1/2 inches from the floor to shoulder.
